MLK Jr. Day Walk in the Park

Walk in the park celebrates Martin Luther King
Celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with an inspiring stroll along the lakeshore at Lake Sammamish State Park, Jan. 12-23.
The walk begins at Tibbetts Beach bathhouse and continues along the lakeshore. Signage along the way showcases MLK’s famous quotes, many as relevant today as they were in the 1960s when he initiated change while speaking out for civil rights.
MLK's most famous speech— "I have a dream..." — is captured in its entirety at the end of the walk at Sunset Beach bathhouse.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, Jan. 17. This is a free day at the park so no Discover Pass will be needed to come walk the park while paying tribute to the life and leadership of one of America’s most revered citizens.
Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park has created a series of do-it-yourself “Walks in the Park” to educate, entertain and bring people outside in a safe way in 2022, each with a different theme. The next walk will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as you follow the leprechauns in search of the pot of gold.
